  1. Norman Finkelstein makes a very compelling argument here against Shlomo Ben-Ami and really makes some great points about Israel’s unequal treatment and disproportionate retaliation against the Palestinian people.
At one point Mr. Ben-Ami makes the argument that what Israel did to the Palestinians is nothing new; the British had done it in the 1930’s. If by “what we did” he simply means “poor treatment,” then yes, what they have done is similar but the extent to which Israel took its treatment of the Palestinians was far worse. What the Zionists did was ethnic cleansing, something the British never did. Ilan Pappé makes a very strong case for this argument in his book “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.”
Mr. Ben-Ami cannot, nor can the rest of the world, sustain the argument that due to the hostile area in which Israel is located they are allowed to retaliate with the force that they do . “The Israel Lobby” co-authored by John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt lays claim to the fact that Israel is so powerful that any country in the region would not dare attack it for fear of retaliation from both its incredible IDF and American/NATO intervention.
Sized up next to the facts, Mr. Ben-Ami’s argument is quite weak in comparison.
